Fall 2022 Conference a Success!

Thank you to everyone who attended

While final numbers are still being tallied, it is already clear that the Fall Conference in Vancouver was a success financially and in terms of attendance. We estimate that nearly 400 people registered for the conference, which exceeded expectations for our first in-person conference in a few years.

Scholarship Auction Success

Thank you Chapter Student Scholarship Committee

Many thanks to the hardworking Chapter Student Scholarship Committee for their efforts in coordinating and carrying off a successful Scholarship Auction as a part of the 2022 Chapter conference’s opening reception. The group procured a wide range of fabulous items for both the Live and Silent Auctions which created great competition among the chapter members in attendance.

Youth In Planning (YIP) Task Force

Come hang out with the cool kids (and kids-at-heart) at Comp Plan Academy

First off, a big thank you to everyone who attended the Youth In Planning Task  Force’s conference session – Reaching the Future: Centering Youth Engagement. As we shared, Comp Plan Academy is a space for planners to share ideas, resources, successes, and lessons learned as we all work to engage youth in major Comp Plan updates and other long-range planning initiatives.

Comment on the Zoning for Equity Policy Guide

APA has been working on the latest addition to our suite of policy guides. Policy guides provide APA’s positions on matters of principle to inform planning advocates and also offer best practices and inspiration for practicing planners to use in their work. The policy guides are initiated by APA leadership, developed by a team of subject matter experts, workshopped in several venues including at conferences, shared for review and comment by APA membership, and ultimately considered by an assembly of delegates from each chapter and formally adopted by the APA Board of Directors.
