How To Submit Articles

The Washington Planner, published monthly, is the membership publication of the Washington Chapter of the American Planning Association. Publications are released near the middle of each month and submissions are due on the first of every month

Submission Guidelines

Thank you for your interest in The Washington Planner! Please consider the following as you write an article for the APA Washington Chapter newsletter:

  1. Try not to exceed 300 words in article length
  2. Include pictures, charts, or other graphics (even memes or GIFs!). Submit these as JPG, PNG, or GIF format and include a photo credit and description if applicable
  3. Provide hyperlinks to relevant websites, documents, videos, etc.
  4. Include the article title, 1-2 sentence content summary, and author name(s) with appropriate credentials (AICP, AIA, etc.), if applicable
  5. Submit the article via email to [email protected]

Publication schedule:

Articles submitted will be slotted into the current edition in production. If an article contains timely information that does not coincide with publication dates, alternative communication channels (e-blast, social media, etc.) may be used to share content.

Note: All articles are subject to final editing by the APA WA Communications Committee and will be published at the discretion of the chapter. (No significant changes will be made without contacting the author(s) first.)
