In case you are not already aware, Washington, By and By, is an educational graphic novel about community planning, which illustrates how empowered teens can engage and shape the future of their state. The 48-page story follows the adventures of four diverse Washington teens as they grapple with the complex issues of development, equity, displacement, and preservation in their communities. The novel encourages readers to examine some critical questions about planning, growth management, and community engagement. The graphic novel was conceived and commissioned by the APA Washington Chapter’s Youth in Planning Task Force and created by the inventive team of Gabrielle Lyon, PHD, Devin Mawdsley, and Kayce Bayer.

A big thank you to the APA Washington Chapter for its continued financial support of Washington, By and By and to the American Planning Association’s Chapters Presidents Council for providing grant funds for the graphic novel’s translation into Spanish and Traditional Chinese.
