End-of-Year CM Catch-up

December 31, 2023, marks the end of another Certification Maintenance (CM)  reporting period. As you know, you need 32 credits, including 1.0 each in law, ethics, equity, and sustainability & resilience.  If you haven't quite earned your 32 CM credits within your two-year reporting period, check out these (mostly free) opportunities:

Free APA Chapter Webcast Series

APA Washington participates in the Planning Webcast Consortium, which is able to offer live and on-demand webcasts through the APA Chapter Webcast Series. Sessions are being added all the time! Check back to the Consortium's website (hosted by APA Ohio) often.

Other On-demand Webinars

Many of these sources have free CM sessions, and some charge:

Earning CM Credits Other Than by Attending a Session:

Besides attending an activity that has approved CM credits, you can also earn CM credits by:

  • By speaking/instructing at an activity that is registered for CM credit by the educational provider.
  • By self-reporting attendance, pro bono planning service or speaking/instructing at an activity that is not registered for CM credit by the provider but meets CM criteria and is approved by APA staff.
  • By authoring an article
  • By authoring a published journal article
  • By authoring a book

Detailed information on how to earn these CM credits can be found on APA's website: How to Earn CM Credits.

You can also get a jump on your next round of CMs and can carry over 16 credits into your next reporting period if you submit the credits by the end of your current reporting period.

If wrapping up CM credit obligations is all too much to get done before the end of the year, there is a grace period that will extened into 2024.
