5 Reasons Why You Should Attend the Scholarship Auction on October 12th

The Student Scholarship Auction will be held on Wednesday, October 12th, at that this year’s APA WA Chapter conference in Vancouver.  All of the Auction proceeds will benefit students at Washington's three accredited Planning colleges.  This fun event will include a silent auction, a live auction, and more.

Why you should attend the Scholarship Auction:

  1. It’s for an amazingly worthy cause – student scholarships.
  2. There will be a lot of fantastic auction items.
  3. You will be the subject of awe and respect among your peers when you donate money to such a good cause.
  4. It will be a fun event.
  5. And… Did I mention it is for a good cause?!

Here is a small sampling of the many items upon which you will be able to bid:

Half-Day Sailboat Trip

This auction item is a 3-4 hour day sail out of Olympia, WA for four adults. Story is a 36’ Cape George Cutter rig built and restored in Port Townsend Washington. She was born to sail around the world, which she plans on doing after 2025, but for now she enjoys regular day-sailing in South Puget Sound, hailing from the Olympia Yacht Club.  This auction item is for up to 4 people (21+), with beverages and light snacks included. An agreeable date can be arranged for any time through June of 2025. Thank you to Kell Rowen for donating this wonderful experience!

4-night stay in in Moab, Utah. 

 

A 4-night stay in a 2-bedroom modern unit at the Moab Resort, a WorldMark Associate, in Moab, Utah. Dates are from Wednesday, April 19, 2023, through Sunday, April 23, 2023.  

This 2-bedroom unit sleeps 6 with 1 King bed, 2 double beds, and 1 Queen Sleeper Sofa.  The spacious unit has an open main room area with various seating configurations, a full kitchen, a patio or balcony, and an in-unit washer and dryer.  The Resort includes a fitness center, a pool, a BBQ area, and children’s play area. There is also the possibility of discussing alternate times and even locations with the donor. Thank you to Esther Larsen for donating this stay!

UW Huskies Football Game “Sailgating” and Tickets

You will have the opportunity to travel to a UW Huskies football game in style! Enjoy arriving at the 'Greatest Setting' in College Football through a “sailgating” experience with veteran season ticket holders. This experience includes two tickets to a mutually agreed upon game for the 2023 season. This sailgating experience will include all beverages, and food for the most unique Husky Experience possible. The vessel will be operated by the owner or designee allowing you and a guest to enjoy the experience. Thank you to Karl Almgren for arranging this auction item.

Stay at the Clearwater Casino Resort

 

Plan for your stay at the Clearwater Casino and Resort, Suquamish, WA.  Located on the shores of the Salish Sea, this location was host to the 2015 APA NPC Mobile Workshop.  Just a short ferry ride and drive away from Seattle, but a world away.  Come to the land of Chief Sealth.  This stay was generously donated by Leonard Forsman, Chairman of the Suquamish Tribe. 

An Amazing Array of Sports Memorabilia

 

Michael Cardwell, FAICP, is donating a treasure trove of memorabilia for big fans of Lou Piniella. You’ll want to bid on one or more of the items shown in the photograph above, including two autographed bottles of wine, a Lou Piniella bobblehead, and other noteworthy items. 

The abovementioned descriptions are just a few of the many auction items that will be available for bidding during the Scholarship Auction. You owe it to yourself to check out all of the “goodies” that will be available at the auction.
