Presidents Message

A few weeks ago, winter-weary Washingtonians rejoiced at the first day the sun hasn't yet set by 5:00 PM PT. Ilwaco, Washington's city closest to Hawaii, first hits the light-after-work mark on January 18th. At the other corner of the state, the residents of Metaline Falls have to wait until February 9th. Hopefully, the growing light in the astronomical sense is matched by a brightening of our pandemic-weary spirits as well. There is a lot going on and a lot to look forward to.

Southwest Section Introduction

The Southwest Section of the Washington APA Chapter brings together people with an interest in building communities and environmental stewardship. Our section covers an enormously diverse set of activities and people from the Columbia River Gorge to Mount St. Helens and includes Skamania, Clark, and Cowlitz counties.

Black History Month

In honoring and celebrating Black History Month, take a moment to learn more about the ongoing contributions of African American planners, urbanists, and communities to planning.

The Washington Chapter of the APA is working to re-engage the WA-APA Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee (EDI Committee), and we are inviting your participation and voice. We hope to work alongside you as partners in learning and action.

APA Economic Development Division  

Award Nominations Now Open!

The APA Economic Development Division has re-launched its awards program and is seeking nominations in the following three categories: Best Practices, Innovation, and Student Project. One project from either the Best Practice or Innovation category will be selected for the Donald E. Hunter Excellence in Economic Development Award honoring Don Hunter who contributed a great deal of time and wisdom to APA, including serving as Chair of the Division.

Nominations are due Friday, February 25th by 5:00 PM ET.
