Southwest Section IntroductionSW Section President; Sam Rubin, AICPThe Southwest Section of the Washington APA Chapter brings together people with an interest in building communities and environmental stewardship. Our section covers an enormous diversity of activities and people from the Columbia River Gorge to Mount St. Helens and includes Skamania, Clark, and Cowlitz counties. Seasoned and emerging professionals in land use, housing, transportation, environmental, economic, and social planning work together to provide planners, students, elected officials, educators, engaged residents, and allied professionals gain access to continuing education and network opportunities in SW Washington. Our section has focused on engaging with our members and the communities we serve by holding quarterly online planning forums and organizing volunteer events. Whether we are holding an Urban Activism event, hopping on the Couvecyle for a downtown pub crawl, or holding meetings via Zoom we gladly invite you to check out your neighbors to the South and join us. You can check out our new Youtube Channel where we post our quarterly forums (link can be found on the SW Section webpage). We also look forward to hosting the Washington APA Chapter Conference in 2022 in Vancouver and meeting all our fellow WA APA members.
