The answer to last issue's trivia question:

What landmark legislation, passed in Washington State, has profoundly influenced urban planning, transportation, and land use by requiring municipalities to develop comprehensive plans that address growth management, environmental protection, and community development?

B) The Growth Management Act of 1990. The Growth Management Act (GMA) of 1990 is a cornerstone of urban and regional planning in Washington State. It mandates that fast-growing cities and counties must develop comprehensive plans that guide development and cover issues such as land use, housing, transportation, capital facilities, and natural resource industries. This act aims to curb sprawl, protect natural resources and enhance the quality of life for Washington's residents. Its implementation has led to significant changes in how communities plan for growth and infrastructure, making it a critical piece of legislation in the state's planning history.
