WA State Chapter Members Elected to the AICP College of Fellows

By Paul Inghram, FAICP and Karen Wolf, FAICP, WA FAICP Committee Co-chairs

Please join us in celebrating our three Chapter nominees - Marissa Aho, Dave Andersen, and Janet Shull - who have been elected to the College of Fellows, the highest honor awarded by the American Institute of Certified Planners. Their induction will take place on April 26th during the APA National Planning Conference in Detroit. Each of these distinguished planners has demonstrated the highest standards of the profession by creating exceptional work that contributes to stronger communities, envisions a bold future, and enriches the public interest.

Marissa Aho spearheaded the creation of first-ever resilience plans in Los Angeles and Houston before assuming leading climate roles with the Department of Natural Resources and King County in Washington State.

Dave Andersen has long been a leading voice on the Growth Management Act through his work with the Department of Commerce, where his expertise and guidance have strengthened communities statewide.

Janet Shull recently retired from the City of Bellevue, where her leadership as the chief urban design planner left a lasting legacy on the city’s built environment and future growth.

The biennial FAICP application process is rigorous, requiring months of preparation and guidance from our dedicated mentors. Our three inductees are recognized not only for their distinguished planning careers but also for the significant effort invested in their nomination materials. They join a select group honored by their peers for exceptional long-term contributions to the planning profession.
