Earn CM Credits while Visiting Italy!May 19 - 24, 2025Santa Vittoria in Matenano, ItalyNow you can take a trip to Italy and receive as many as two thirds of the required credits for AICP Certification Maintenance during five days of education and exploration. Retired planner, author, and journalist Mark Hinshaw, formerly from Seattle, has organized a series of seminars and field trips in his adopted country of Italy. They will be held in the region of Marche (pronounced mark’-ay), in east-central Italy. Marche is filled with towns that typify daily life in Italy, free from the mass tourism that is choking places like Venice and Florence – although those cities are but a few hours away. Both practitioners and academics will describe planning policies, programs, and projects in Italy. Field trips will include town centers, waterfronts, public spaces, and archaeological sites. All presentations and tours will be in English. Offered in partnership with APA WA, the session will offer up to 22 AICP credit hours. This registration cost includes seminars, field trips, lodging for five nights, one meal a day, and course-related ground transportation. Airfare is not included. The total package cost is $1,600. (Spouses can be accommodated with a modest extra fee.) Expenses associated with this continuing education program may be tax deductible; consult your tax accountant. A portion of the seminar proceeds will be donated back to the Chapter’s Student Scholarship fund. he course is open to only twenty people, therefore, early registration is recommended. The enrollment period opens January 2, 2025, and closes March 7, 2025. Attendees may wish to add their own vacation travel before or after the course. May is great time to travel in Italy to take advantage of good weather but avoid the summertime crowds. AICP members contemplating enrolling in this course may have questions. Mark has developed a set of FAQs but is also available for questions. His email is [email protected]. More information about the seminar will be available in January 2025. Since the number of attendees is limited, and you are interested, please email Mark if one of these applies to you: o I would like to reserve a space in the course right now.
