3. Green Stormwater in Parks: A Win-Win for Urban Resilience
- Date: December 17, 2024
- Time: 10:30 AM PT
- Description: By managing stormwater naturally, green stormwater infrastructure (GSI) in parks helps to reduce flooding (and its financial impacts) while also enhancing biodiversity. In addition to increasing resilience, green infrastructure in parks can create new green amenities, reduce urban heat, and improve public health. As the largest natural areas in urban places, parks and other public green spaces offer ideal sites for implementing GSI. However, they remain underutilized for GSI due to various challenges. Join us to learn how to foster better collaboration between parks and water agencies on capital projects, community engagement, planning, and maintenance, so your city can fully tap into parks' potential for GSI. Guest speakers from Boston and Tucson will talk about their different approaches to this collaboration, and we will share new Alliance resources to help make the case for nature-based solutions like GSI in parks—a win-win for urban resilience.
