Transportation Planning Division in WA on the Move

Washington Chapter Transportation Planning Division (TPD) liaisons Michael Hintze, AICP and Patrick Lynch, AICP held the inaugural Virtual Transportation Forum on July 20. The meeting kicked off with remarks by Gabriela Juarez, a Los Angeles transportation planner and Chair of the APA Transportation Planning Division. She provided an overview of TPD and insights into how TPD is working with other state Chapters to support planners. Participants then shared their thoughts on how TPD can support their work and transportation planning in Washington. The remainder of the forum was dedicated to a discussion around what communities are doing to respond to and recover from COVID-19 from a transportation and public right-of-way perspective. A recording of the forum is available on the TPD's YouTube channel

Next stop is the APA WA/OR Joint (Virtual) Conference. Michael and Patrick are working with the conference committee to provide a space on the program for another Virtual Transportation Forum and networking event. They would love to hear from TPD members in WA—if you have ideas about what you’d like to see at the conference or generally about TPD supporting your work, reach out to them.

Do you have ideas for a transportation-related article for the Washington Planner? Reach out to Michael and Patrick. They will be coordinating a regular column specifically for all you transportation wonks out there, and certainly don’t want to be the ones doing all the writing! Contact Michael at [email protected] or Patrick at [email protected].
