Call for Speakers!

Puget Sound Section EPIC Conference
Call for Speakers: Applications due April 29, 2016
EPIC Conference: June 8, 2016

Be a Presenter at the Puget Sound Section EPIC Conference - June 8, 2016

The Puget Sound Section of the Washington Chapter of the American Planning Association is holding our half-day EPIC Conference at The Conference Center at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on June 8, 2016, from 12:30 pm – 4:30 pm.

The conference theme is not yet defined, so all proposal topics are welcome as long as they are current and relevant to the Pacific Northwest planning community, both private and public sectors. AICP credits will be provided for APA members. The Puget Sound Section is evaluating opportunities for certification maintenance credits for other professionals as conference planning progresses.

Conference Topics - Call for Sessions due April 29, 2016

The conference committee is seeking session proposals for the upcoming EPIC conference. Proposals should address a current, relevant topic that impacts our planning community in the Pacific Northwest. The proposal can focus on one or a combination of related topics, and should apply to both the private and public sector.

Proposals should be sufficient to cover a 20 to 85 minute session. Proposals will be selected to ensure the conference program offers a comprehensive, noncommercial, objective, and diverse treatment of issues. Attention will be given to diversity of presenters and geographic applicability.

Session Format

The format for the conference will be conference hall style for up to 180 people seated at tables. An in-room computer with wireless mouse and keyboard, two drop down screens, LCD projector, and Wi-Fi will be available.

The conference committee encourages you to consider a presentation format that will engage your colleagues in discussion and learning beyond the simple dissemination of information. Suggested formats include small/large group discussion, interactive and/or scenario modeling, polling, or other alternative formats for participant engagement.

Proposal Deliverable

Please use the survey monkey link below to submit your proposal electronically or email a narrative answering the questions below to the Puget Sound Section President, Stefanie Young at [email protected]. You may also contact her if you have any questions. All proposals are due April 29, 2016 at 5pm.

Proposal Form

Applicants will be notified of proposal status by May 4, 2016.

IMPORTANT: Presenters are responsible for travel costs and preparation fees. Registration and lunch will be offered for all presenters.

Call for Session Questions: Due April 29, 2016

  1. Session Presenter(s), Moderators, or Facilitators: Names, titles, organization affiliation and contact information for each presenter.
  2. Session Title: Should be catchy and correspond with the session proposal.
  3. Session Objective & Fit: Please identify one short, clear objective and no more than three supporting objectives. Please refer to the conference topics for general ideas and perspectives.

This description will be used for promoting the conference, and the committee has the right to edit the descriptions as necessary to advertise the conference and complete APA CM credit forms. Please be sure that your description and title conveys the essence of your session.
  5. Allotted Session time Requested: Sessions can range from 20 minutes to 85 minutes. Please indicate the length of time in your proposal.

Sponsorship Opportunity - 2016 EPIC Conference

The Puget Sound Section would like to invite you to become a sponsor of the 2016 EPIC Conference at the Seatac Airport Conference Center on June 8, 2016. This half day conference is an effort to bring local experience and knowledge in a format centered on planning issues in our region.

We invite you to be a partner with the Puget Sound Section for this event. A sponsorship of $250 dollars will go toward the event and includes one free registration to the conference ($80 dollar value). Your organization’s name will also be included in our end of the year Holiday Party PowerPoint presentation, as a strong supporter of our section’s educational programming.

This is a wonderful opportunity for your organization to have visibility in front of an audience who could benefit and value from your participation at this conference. If you are interested in being a 2016 EPIC Conference Sponsor, please contact Salina Lyons at [email protected] for more information.
