President’s Corner | Anne Broache, AICP, Chapter President | May 2026

Earlier this year, I shared that one of APA Washington’s work plan priorities for 2026 is refreshing our Chapter website. We recognize that the current site is not always the easiest place to find the latest information. So I wanted to offer a quick update on how that work is taking shape.

In true planner fashion, we started by pulling together a small committee of Board members and drafting a Vision, Goals, and Objectives. Our vision is for the APA Washington website to serve as a welcoming, easy-to-use digital hub that connects planners across the state to resources, events, and educational opportunities aligned with our mission. The refreshed site will support professional growth, attract and retain members, strengthen connections across Washington’s planning community, and highlight the value of planning in shaping thriving communities.

We identified three core goals and associated objectives:

  • Improve user experience through clearer navigation, a more engaging homepage, and streamlined content that is easier to find and maintain.
  • Enhance member engagement by clearly communicating membership value, expanding access to resources, and highlighting opportunities for involvement and leadership across the Chapter and Sections.
  • Ensure long-term sustainability by strengthening content management practices and establishing clear workflows to keep the site current and useful.

Refreshing our website is an important investment in how we serve our members now and in the years ahead. I’m excited to share more updates as this work moves forward and to keep the conversation going about how our digital presence can best support planners across Washington State.
