Join Allied Professions at WA Traffic Safety SummitGreetings! As we turn the seasonal corner from winter to spring, APA WA Allied Professions encourages planners from all specialties and jurisdictions to register for and attend the 2025 Washington Traffic Safety Summit July 15-17, 2025 in Spokane, WA. Register for the conference below. RegistrationWhy Might You Be Interested? This conference will provide many opportunities for land use planners to learn how transportation, engineering, public health, and law enforcement professionals are working together to address safety issues using the Safe System Approach (SSA). Attendees will also learn more about WSDOT’s incorporation of SSA into the 2024 Strategic Highway Plan, also known as Target Zero, as well as the new “Safer Land Use” principle that WSDOT proactively added to the SSA. The Washington Growth Management Act (GMA) requires comprehensive plan transportation elements to implement land use elements and the integration of land use context with appropriately scaled and designed transportation infrastructure is critical to safety and mobility in our communities. Safer land use planning enables reduced car use and shortens travel distances, both of which reduce crash exposure. To achieve optimal transportation safety for people using all modes, land use planning that prioritizes safety and equitable access to mobility is fundamental. Don’t miss this opportunity to connect with professionals from all over the Pacific Northwest who are focused on working to make our communities safer. I hope to see you in Spokane this summer!
