Should You Apply to Join the AICP College of Fellows?Election to the College of Fellows is the highest honor that the American Institute of Certified Planners bestows upon a member. This honor recognizes the achievements of the professional who has made significant contributions to society and the field of planning. The APA Washington Nominating Committee seeks to recognize the best planners from Washington State and provide them the support they need to be inducted into the College of Fellows. If you have been an AICP member in good-standing for at least 10 years and are currently a member of the APA Washington Chapter, you may be eligible for consideration for nomination by the Chapter. We’ll be looking for members who meet the criteria and have made outstanding contributions to the profession. Fellowship may be granted to planners who have achieved excellence in professional practice, teaching, mentoring, innovation, research, community service and leadership. The official call for applications will go out within the next few months but we wanted to get you thinking about your career as a planner and how you could be recognized as a member of the FAICP community. Keep the following dates in mind:
Please note that although the eligibility criteria is now 10 years as AICP, many successful FAICP candidates have 20 years of experience or more in the planning profession. The APA Washington Nominating Committee will host a webinar at noon on January 15th (https://washington.zoom.us/j/94782346796) to share information about the nominating process and to answer questions. If you are curious, please attend the webinar and do not hesitate to reach out to us with any questions. WA FAICP Committee Co-chairs,
Karen Wolf, FAICP
Paul Inghram, FAICP
