Sustainable Plans and Codes - From Possibilities to Prescriptions

Session 7C | Thursday | 4:15 PM – 5:30 PM (PT)

About the Session

This session focuses on the art and hard work of blending climate, health, and environmental justice into land use plans and codes. Redmond's and Vancouver's Comprehensive Plan periodic updates have creatively engaged community members and developed land use/growth scenarios that put sustainability and inclusion at the forefront. The cities and consultants will demonstrate indices and metrics used both to create and evaluate the land use concepts; these metrics can help form a later monitoring plan. Redmond and Vancouver will also share how they moved from the big ideas and growth concepts around sustainability and inclusion into development codes.
