AICP and Professional Development NewsExam Prep Interested in taking the AICP Exam this year? The Chapter will be offering two events to help you get ready: AICP Exam Prep Introduction - April 21, 2023 | 4:00 PM – 6:00 PMThis virtual session will provide a high level of information you should know prior to taking the exam and will offer insights from a recent successful exam taker! Cost = Free! AICP Exam Prep Session – TBD (likely a Saturday in September) This in-person event will be more intensive and comprehensive. Sessions will focus on a range of topics addressed in the exam and will be taught by AICP planners who are subject matter experts. More information to come. Cost = minimal. Looking to Join an Exam Study Session? If you are scheduled to take the upcoming exam, you may benefit by joining with your peers to go over the material and prep for the exam together. It’s a time-tested recipe for success! Please send the following information to [email protected]: Name: We will share your information with those who also express interest in prepping for the exam as a group. Scholarships for AICP Exam AICP is offering scholarships help make the planning profession more diverse and accessible. As defined by the program, diversity is an inclusive concept that encompasses, but is not limited to race, ethnicity, class, gender, age, sexuality, ability, educational attainment, spiritual beliefs, creed, culture, tribal affiliation, nationality, financial status, immigration status, political beliefs, and veteran status. At this time, there are no scholarships available for the May exam. We will dive deeper into how the program may have changed and let members know how they can apply for these scholarships for future exams. Upcoming Survey of Non-AICP Members Since APA has changed the process by which planners can apply to become AICP certified over the last few years (i.e., “One Path to AICP”), the Chapters don’t have the same opportunity and lead time to provide exam training to upcoming exam-takers. We would like to hear from future exam candidates about how we can - ahead of time - best help you get in the studying groove to ace the test. We will be looking for your ideas on how we should structure the exam prep we offer. The survey will be coming out later this spring. In the meantime, send your ideas to [email protected]. Professional Development tab on the Chapter Website Can you say, “Needs to be updated?” We commit to doing an overhaul of the content on these pages of the website in the near future – ‘nuf said!
