Commerce Webinar on Race

Commerce has brought on a consultant (BDS Planning) to help planners effectively converse on matters of race with their elected officials, boards and commissions, and the public as part of their GMA Housing Element work on racially disparate impacts (or to have those type of conversations on any planning issue for that matter). The consultant will also provide best practices for staff on reaching out to and approaching historically marginalized and vulnerable populations as part of their GMA work.

Commerce’s hiring of the consultants responds to comments we have heard from planners on learning more about talking race in a planning setting. One of the consultant deliverables is to participate in an hour long webinar hosted by Commerce. It will be open to any interested party, although obviously targeted to planners.

 

We are thinking of having that webinar either Wednesday, May 10, 2023 or Wednesday, May 24, 2023 (specific time of day TBD). More information to come soon!
