2022 Keynote Speakers Selected

 

Angela Brooks, FAICP, Director for Illinois Program at Corporation for Supportive Housing, will serve as the main keynote speaker. Ms. Brooks is based in Chicago but has deep planning roots in Washington State. Ms. Brooks brings a wealth of expertise in housing development, policy, and implementation across private, public, and nonprofit sectors along with her passion for access to housing and community development, and, as incoming President of APA National, Ms. Brooks is well-positioned as an authority on the importance of good planning in addressing the housing crisis.

 

Petra Hurtado, PhD, is APA’s Research Director who oversees APA’s research programs and foresight practice. In this role, she is “responsible for expanding a future-focused research agenda and advancing planning practices that assist communities in navigating change.” Areas of expertise include urban sustainability, smart cities, emerging technologies, nature-based solutions, and environmental psychology. Prior to joining APA, she worked as an advisor, planner, researcher, and educator in the global urban sustainability arena. With a doctorate in urban planning and a keen interest in where the profession of planning is going, Dr. Hurtado will kick off the conference and share her insights into what to look for while planning in a post-pandemic world.
