Nominate an Outstanding Planner for an Award!

 The deadline is July 31

Each year at the annual conference, the chapter president presents awards to individual planners and officials that have made significant contributions to the chapter and/or profession. There are three presidential award categories including:

  1. The Robert “Bob” Burke Award for Distinguished Service to the Washington APA Chapter;
  2. The Myer Wolfe Award for professional achievement and advancement of the planning profession; and
  3. The Barbara Grace Award for a mid-level planner who has distinguished her or himself with dedication to public service and professional accomplishment. These are the frontline, unsung planners in our agencies and firms who help “Create Communities for All” and represent the future leadership of our profession.

In addition, the chapter will presented a Legislator of the Year Award to honor a legislator’s support for planning issues (typically nominated by the Legislative Committee), as well as the Planning Advocate Award to recognize public figures who have advocated for a wide range of planning issues and who have initiated actions that have made a significant difference benefitting Washington State.

If you know of a planner or planning advocate who is deserving of recognition, please fill out a nomination form or send an email to the APA Office ([email protected]) that provides the name, position and professional background of the planner, which award they are being nominated for and, as specifically as possible, why they should receive an award. The nominations process will be open until July 31, 2024.
