President’s Report: Announcing New Board Leaders

By Chad Eiken

I'm pleased to announce a handful of appointments to committee leadership positions, some which had been vacant for quite some time.

First, Ryan Givens, AICP, has been appointed as co-chair of the Sponsorship Committee. Ryan, a planner with Stantec, has a talent for procuring sponsorships as demonstrated at the past few conferences. Riya is already serving as newsletter editor co-chair of the communications committee and is a planner for WSP, Inc.

Secondly, Paula Reese, AICP, has agreed to rejoin the board to co-chair the Climate and Sustainability Initiative Committee. Paula, a planner for WA Dept. of Health, has been very active in the Chapter over the years, including as president, leader on the Community Planning Assistance Team, and as APA liaison to the WA Public Works Board. Welcome back Paula! Paula will be joined by Rishabh Ukil, AICP, a planner/architect with Makers Architecture and Design, who will co-chair the Climate and Sustainability Initiative Committee. Rish is a senior facilities planner who works on electrification strategies for local governments.

Additionally, Steve Butler, FAICP, is stepping up to co-chair the Scholarship Committee with Kirk Rappe, AICP. Steve currently is the co-chair for the Youth in Planning Committee. In his day job, Steve is Planning & Policy Manager for MRSC.

Lastly, Judith Perez, AICP, has been appointed to serve as the Nominating Committee Chair in addition to her duties as Chapter Vice President, and she will help to coordinate upcoming elections for the Sections. Judith is a principal planner for the Southwest Washington Regional Transportation Council (RTC).

For those who may be interested in volunteering on a committee, we have an immediate need for folks willing to serve on both the Membership and Sponsorship Committees, which are two priority areas this year. If interested, please send an email to [email protected] indicating which committee you would like to join, and they will connect you with the appropriate committee chair.
