About the Session
 

This session showcases student master theses from Eastern Washington University. Each student will present a modified version of their thesis defense presentation.

About the Moderator

Jason Scully
Eastern Washington University
 

Jason Scully, MUP, PhD is an associate professor of urban and regional planning at Eastern Washington University. His areas of interest include walkable communities and the intersection of the built environment and health.

About the Speakers
 
Jacqueline Churchill

Eastern Washington University

Jacqueline Churchill graduated from Eastern Washington University in 2023. Her master's thesis focused on housing accessibility in rural Washington. She is currently employed as a planner with the City of Spokane.


Caitlin Trimble

Eastern Washington University

Caitlin Trimble graduated Cum Laude from Eastern Washington University's Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning in 2023. She currently works as a transportation planner at Ardurra Engineers.

Della Mutungi
Eastern Washington University
 
In 2023 Della Mutungi graduated from Eastern Washington University (EWU) with a master's in urban and regional planning. While at EWU she also earned the EWU Student of the Year Award and the EWU Community Service Award. She wrote a master's thesis on graffiti vandalism in downtown Spokane and is currently working as a planner with the City of Spokane.

Kurtis Johnson

Kurtis Johnson earned his Master’s Degree in Urban and Regional Planning from EWU in 2023. His master’s thesis topic explores how tribal transit agencies use people as infrastructure to overcome the challenges wrought by low funding.  He presently works for Nexus Planning Services.


Graham Zickefoose

A transplant from Boise, Idaho, Graham Zickefoose’s 2023 master’s thesis explores the phenomenon of vehicular residency among unhoused people. He is currently working for Spokane County.
