Tools To Advance Environmental Goals Through Periodic UpdateSession 6B | Thursday | 4:00 – 5:15 PM (PT)
How can planners improve environmental outcomes through comprehensive planning and development regulations? In this session, the Puget Sound Regional Council and the Habitat Strategic Initiative Lead will share the latest tools and resources designed to help jurisdictions realize better environmental outcomes through their comprehensive plan updates and beyond. A Skagit County planner will share how they are putting those tools into action.
David Pater
Department of Commerce
David is a National Estuary Program Planner with the Department of Commerce. Before Commerce, he spent 30 years with the Department of Ecology working as a Regional Shoreline planner, Water quality grant manager and solid waste planner. David has a B.A. in Geography from UC-Santa Barbara and Masters of Science in Resource Geography from Oregon State University.
Paul Ingrahm, FAICP
Paul Inghram, FAICP, is the Director of Growth Management for the Puget Sound Regional Council, where he supports the implementation of the regional plan, VISION 2050, across four counties and 82 cities. Prior to PSRC, Paul worked with communities across Western Washington. Paul mentors and guest lectures at the University of Washington and served as the president of the American Institute of Certified Planners. He holds a degree in planning and design from the University of Washington and an MBA from Seattle University. Rebecca Brown, AICP Rebecca Brown, AICP, is an environmental planner with the Washington State Department of Natural Resources focused on advancing land use strategies and actions that protect and restore Puget Sound. She holds a B.S. in Environmental Studies from Saint Lawrence University and a Master of Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Minnesota. She has been a planner for Yakima County and the Department of Ecology before joining DNR. Sarah Ruether Sarah has a B.S. in environmental science from Western Washington University and a Master's Degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Portland State University. She has worked in transportation and environmental planning for over ten years and now works at Skagit County leading their long-range planning and Comprehensive Plan update. |
