September/October Washington Planner: Section Updates

SW Section

The SW Chapter of APA Washington spent the last Saturday of summer volunteering for Columbia Springs, a 100 acre urban nature park and environmental education center in Vancouver, WA. Chapter attendees pulled on waders and gloves and plunged in to a wetland to remove invasive jewelweed from around the wetland boardwalk station. During the school year, over 6000 local students visit Columbia Springs on field trips and study water quality and macroinvertebrates from the wetland boardwalks. The service project improved water access for the student program. While hard at work, chapter attendees enjoyed socializing with fellow planning professionals and soaking in some sunshine on a beautiful late summer morning.
