APA-Washington Chapter and Sections Elections Are “Just Around the Corner”

The American Planning Association-Washington Chapter (APA-WA) and several of its Sections have candidates running for several important positions. Online ballots will be available on August 5, with the last day of voting being September 8. Even though those dates may seem so far off into the future, the APA-WA Nominations Committee wanted to give you an early look at who will be running for which positions.

State Chapter

At the state chapter level, there are two candidates for the office of President-Elect, who are:

  • Richard Sepler, AICP, Planning and Community Development Director, City of Bellingham
  • Dan Stroh, Planning Director, City of Bellevue

This position entails a four-year commitment as follows: one year as President-Elect; two years as President; and the final year as Immediate Past President. The incoming President-Elect will take office on November 1, 2016.

Sections within Washington State

Three Sections have open seats with candidates running for them, which are as follows:

Columbia Section

  • President: Ardele Steele, AICP
  • Treasurer: Barbara Baker, AICP

Inland Empire Section

  • President: Dave Andersen, AICP
  • Vice President: Mary May, AICP
  • Secretary: Nathan Gwinn
  • Treasurer: Benjamin Serr
  • At-Large Board Members (with five candidates running for four open positions):
    • Donna DeBit
    • Ryan Hughes, AICP
    • Sev Jones
    • Amanda Tainio
    • Kathleen Watson

Puget Sound Section

  • Secretary: Elisabeth Schuck, AICP               
  • Treasurer: Sonja Burseth
