Association of Washington Cities Offers Fresh Resources for GMA Updates

Updating Growth Management Act comprehensive plans and development regulations can be a daunting and overwhelming task for elected officials and city staff.

Recognizing the statewide scale of this effort, and the need for a fresh approach to awareness and education on planning issues, the Association of Washington Cities worked with planners, city managers and elected officials to brainstorm the key issues and elements around the GMA update process.

The result is a series of twelve short videos, covering everything from roles and responsibilities, budget and economic development to implementation and community engagement.  Each video is 5 to 8 minutes long and comes with a set of discussion questions designed to help relate the video content to communities where they are used.

The videos, designed to help city staff, elected officials and planning commissioners and citizens, are available on the AWC website.
