Job Description: MAKERS Architecture and Urban Design is seeking a creative, independent, and collaborative individual to lead urban design projects, including public realm/streetscape improvements and a variety of community plans, such as urban center, waterfront, transit-oriented, regional design, and strategic implementation plans.

Experience/Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills:
Requirements:

  • Five years minimum experience managing projects or tasks within the urban design, community planning, site master planning, and/or public realm design field
  • Degree in architecture, landscape architecture, planning, or related field
  • Strong graphic (illustration, sketching, rendering, visualization, infographic, etc) and graphic design skills
  • Strong site planning and public realm design skills
  • Competency with Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, and Sketchup
  • Excellent writing, presentation, and communication skills
  • Outstanding administrative, organization, and project management skills, including the ability to work independently and proactively as well as lead teams on complex projects
  • Ability to produce, track, and manage deliverables with overlapping deadlines in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills, such as humor and empathy, and grounded in principles of racial and social equity
  • Ability to facilitate focus groups, workshops, charrettes, roundtables, large group dialogues, etc
  • Ability to build long-term relationships with clients • Ability to solve problems and resolve conflicts

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Familiarity with GIS and Rhino
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Enjoys research and analysis
  • Ability to travel
  • Candidates with less experience that can demonstrate strong capabilities will also be considered.
