This is the first of three webinars in MRSC’s Local Climate Response Project training series. In this webinar, we will t ake a closer look at potential tools and approaches for local climate actio n in Washington State, building off the experiences of our presenters and t he planning process that culminated in the adoption of the Thurston Climate Mitigation Plan earlier this year.
Presenters will provide insights from their invol vement with the Thurston Climate Mitigation Plan, a robust regional climate action plan that includes Thurston County and the cities of Lacey, Olympia , and Tumwater. They will describe the community planning process, highligh t key features of the plan (including greenhouse gas reduction strategies s pecific to the building sector), and offer lessons learned to other jurisdi ctions interested in developing a local climate response. Deepa Sivarajan f rom Climate Solutions will conclude by sharing tools available to local gov ernments in their climate action efforts and some innovative approaches bei ng used around Washington State.
