MRSC Planning Ethics Webinar

Webinar Overview

Being ethical is important for many professions, including planning. But doing so often requires a thoughtful balancing of different issues and interests. This webinar will use several ethical scenarios to help the participants understand how the American Institute of Certified Planners’ (AICP) Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibility applies to the challenging issues facing planners today. This session fulfills the AICP certification maintenance requirement for ethics training.

This webinar will provide planners and other people interested in planning with a solid introduction to planning-related ethical issues and the AICP Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibility.

This training is eligible for 1.5 hours CM Ethics credits from the American Planning Association (Course # 9223361)

Presenters

Steve Butler, FAICP, Planning & Policy Manager, MRSC. Steve has been involved in most aspects of community planning for over 30 years, both in the public and private sectors. At MRSC, he focuses primarily on the topics of planning, zoning, affordable housing, and homelessness. Steve has served as president of statewide planning associations in both Washington and Maine. 

Paul Inghram, FAICP, Director of Growth Management, Puget Sound Regional Council (PSRC). At PRSC, Paul supports the implementation of the regional plan, VISION 2050. Prior to PSRC, Paul worked for the City of Bellevue where he led efforts to plan around future light rail stations, revitalize neighborhood shopping centers, and update the city's comprehensive plan. Paul has also worked as a planning consultant serving communities throughout the Puget Sound area. Paul was honored to serve as President of the American Institute of Certified Planners and on the Board of the American Planning Association and continues to be actively involved in the planning profession.

Karen Wolf, FAICP, Sr., retired/former Senior Policy Analyst, Office of Performance, Strategy, and Budget, King County. Until her recent retirement, Karen had more than 25 years of experience working on regional land use projects in King County to implement the State Growth Management Act. Additionally, she is finishing her second term as an elected member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) Commission, representing Region V, serving as the Chair of the AICP Ethics Committee, and former chair of the AICP Exam Committee. She recently voted in as President-Elect of the AICP Commission.
