About This Event

The theme this year is Rising to the Moment. Content focuses on how planners and allied professions have risen, what we will bring forward, and what we will leave behind during/after the COVID-19 pandemic. You will receive a link to the conference a week before the event.

Returning to the conference is Mitch Silver, FAICP, New York City Parks and Recreation Department Commissioner. Mr. Silver will kick off the conference as our Keynote Speaker with inspiring words for us to rise to this occasion.

Conference sessions include (in no particular order):
  • Impactful Storytelling for Planners - explores how planners can expand the ways we connect with community members to ensure equitable opportunities for participation and find creative ways to engage people that don’t normally participate
  • Increasing Housing Access, Affordability and Choice - a panel specializing in low-income and affordable housing development and research identify opportunities to increase access to supply today and in the future
  • Slow Streets, Open Streets, COVID Streets - panelists from a range of locations explore how communities are creatively responding to the COVID-19 pandemic by using right-of-way to benefit local businesses and community health, and result in placemaking, neighborhood pop-up parks, and bike boulevards without causing unintended social inequities and accessibility challenges
  • State of the Planning Practice - a distinguished group of practicing planners share observations of how their organizations have adapted to the dynamic situation working within remote teams, planning, and opportunities
