2017-2019 State Heritage Capital Projects Grant: Materials and Workshops Now Available

Tribal and local government leaders and planners may be aware of historic preservation capital projects within their capital facilities plans and elsewhere in their communities. These projects may be eligible for state funding!

The Washington State Historical Society is proud to announce the next application cycle of the Heritage Capital Projects Program. The Grant Application for the 2017-2019 biennium and the 2017-2019 Application Workshop Schedule are available below. Six free three-hour Grant Application Workshops are planned for March and April 2016, and completed Grant Applications will be due May 19, 2016.

Through the competitive Heritage Capital Projects (HCP) grant program, the state provides up to ten million dollars each biennium to reimburse up to 33.33% of the eligible costs of selected heritage capital projects; and, grantees must provide at least 66.67% match. Applicants may request a minimum HCP grant of $7,500.00 and no more than $750,000.00. To meet the legislative intent of the HCP, applicants must demonstrate significant public benefit in the form of heritage interpretation and preservation, involve property that will be held a minimum of 13 years beyond the completion of the project and have the capacity and readiness to undertake and complete their capital project by June 30, 2019.
