Employer: City of Puyallup Job Description: The City of Puyallup is accepting applications for a Permit Technician. The priority application date is July 17, 2020. The City of Puyallup is situated at the foot of scenic Mount Rainier in the beautiful Puget Sound region, 10 miles east of Tacoma and approximately 35 miles south of Seattle. The city has a population of 41,000 and has gained prominence as a regional commercial and service center for Eastern Pierce County, and continues to serve its residents and neighbors with a diversified economy. Job Duties: Incumbents in this classification are responsible for a variety of complex and specialized technical office tasks in support of the Development and Permitting Services Department. The incumbents work as a team in providing primary customer service for the Development and Permitting Services Department. The employees are responsible for assisting contractors, builders, engineers, architects, utilities, other City departments and the public by providing information about the permit application process by ensuring the completeness of applications and supporting documentation. The employees provide avariety of information regarding construction projects, private developments, utilities, zoning and land use regulations, assessments, City records, building inspection and development review processes. The employees also assist the general public in the location of City utilities and provide information regarding easements and deeds. Experience/Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills: Qualification are two years of progressively responsible general office support experience, preferably in an office with similar functions; or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that indicates the ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position listed above.
