Job Description:
Under the direction of the Community Development Director this position will organize, oversee, coordinate, direct and review the professional, technical, and administrative work of the day to day planning and economic development operations.
Job Duties:
- This position manages, researches and analyzes complex planning projects;
- Ensures compliance with local, state and federal laws;
- Oversees new development proposals and environmental studies;
- Reviews and processes comprehensive plan amendments, re-zonings, annexations, site plans, and plats;
- Research and report on land use, physical, social and economic issues;
- Provide planning assistance on varied land-use projects;
- Provide overall management of division-related planning issues;
- Manage the planning of the City’s parks and special events;
- Develop long-range plans for the community.
Experience/Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills:
- Graduation from a four year college or university with specialization in community and urban planning, community and economic development, public administration, architecture, engineering, or closely related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Ten (10) or more years of increasingly responsible municipal experience involving planning, economic and community development.
- Three (3) years supervisory experience.
