J-U-B ENGINEERS, Inc. is hiring a Land Use Planner to work in our Kennewick, WA office. Position Overview:

We are looking for team members who bring specialized expertise, willingness to build long-lasting relationships and care about the local community. In this position, you will work in a team environment to help with a broad range of planning needs including preparing land use permit applications, coordination with multi-disciplinary teams within our land development group and helping obtain agency and public support. Client interaction and communication with project stakeholders, local, state, and federal agencies on projects is required.

Job Duties:

While working with the Land Development project team, typical tasks may include:

  • Entitlement Coordination with local agencies including (annexations, rezones, pre-plats, PUDs, final plats, binding site plans, conditional use permits, development agreements, etc.)
  • Assist with the environmental permitting process
  • Working as a direct liaison between client and agency
  • Preparation for and participation in public meetings
  • Coordination with reviewing agencies (City, County, State, Utility Providers, etc.) for plan approvals
  • Process subdivision plats and work with applicable agencies to obtain plat signatures and recordation of plats
  • Track agency comments and professional land surveyor revisions
  • Agency permitting coordination – track plan review and contract routing
  • Prepare client project status reports for PM/Client meetings
  • Prepare project status reports for staff meetings
  • Prepare technical memorandums, reports, and press releases
  • Assist with community and land use planning
  • Develop conceptual site and master plans
  • Draft and finalize various communications (notifications, public information, technical reports)
  • Collaborate and work as a team with project managers, planners, engineers, and other subject matter experts

Experience/Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning or similar, or 4 years of qualifying experience in planning or a similar profession
  • 2-7 years of related experience.
  • Prior local government and/or public involvement experience is a benefit
  • Master planning / long-range planning experience is a plus
  • Strong self-motivation, team focus, and ability to push tasks to completion
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including technical writing
  • Strong communication, planning, and organizational skills
